Jack Smith

Mr. Jack Smith, age 78, 1111 Amigo Dr., Concord, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 at CMC - Northeast. He was born January 16, 1932 to the late Plato Vernon "P.V." Smith and Venna Blackwelder Smith. He was a retired twist operator for Wiscassett Mills with 39 years service. He served in the US Army. He was a member of the American Legion, where he was a dedicated member for over 50 years. He was also employed by the Concord Tribune. He graduated from Harrisburg High School. He is survived by his son Gary Smith, Concord, daughter Trena Measmer and husband Jeff, Concord, Brother Kenneth W. Smith, Concord, sister Patsy Barnette and husband Otis, Charlotte, grandchildren Brittney Williams, Chad Tinsley, Michelle Drye and a number of great-grandchildren. The visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 10 from 6 - 8 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home - Concord. The service will take place Thursday, Feb. 11 at 2:00 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home's Chapel - Concord. Rev. Don Liske will officiate the service. Interment will be at Carolina Memorial Park - Kannapolis. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post 51, 165 Wilshire Ave, SW, Concord, NC 28025.
