Jackson Helms

Jackson Dewey Helms, 87, of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Atrium Health Union in Monroe.

Helms was born January 14, 1934 in North Carolina to the late Martin Lucern Helms and the late Seena Adeline Helms.
He was also preceded in death by sisters, Rachel McGee and Carolyn Purser; brothers, Thomas and Joseph Helms and infant sister, Mary Helms.

A celebration of Jackson's life will be held on Sunday the 5th, at Shiloh Advent Christian Church at 3pm, located at 3601 Sikes Mill Rd, Monroe 28110, officiated by Pastor Travis Hutchenson.

Survivors include wife, Merle Collins Helms of Monroe, NC; son, Jackson Helms Jr and family; daughter, Mary Helms and family; daughter, Gema lynn Humphries and family; son, Grant Helms and family; sister, Margaret Helms; sister, Patricia  Jenkins; sister, Martha Helms; sister, Gail Jacobs; and many beloved grand and great-grand children.

Jackson was a wonderful and loving husband to his wife Merle for 68 years.  He proudly served in the United States Air Force and later joined  the American Legion, Post 440 in which he was active for many years.  Jackson was also very proud of being a life long member of Shiloh Advent Christian Church of Monroe, and served many years there as a deacon.  He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
