Jacob Wade Black, 81, of Concord, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Brian Center in Concord. Mr. Black was born June 8, 1932 in Cabarrus County to the late Charlie Samuel Black and Hessie Ellen Tucker Black. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Jean Black Benton; his brother, Charles Boyd Black; an infant son, Jeffrey Lane Black; and his step-sons, Rick and Scott Helms. Mr. Black served in the U. S. Army 82nd Airborne. He was the CEO of H & B Tool and Die Company of Charlotte for 50 years. The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2013 at Bethel United Methodist Church in Midland. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary, officiated by Rev. Mark Clontz and Associate Minister Dan Sullivan. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Doug Stamey, Howard Long, Larry Bennett, Tim Furr, Ross Furr, and Sammie Benton. Honorary pallbears will be Frank Whitley, Rev. Don Lisk, Bill Black, and Tim Gardner Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Nancy Joyce Gardner Black of the home; his son, David Charles Black and his wife, Debbie, of Midland; his granddaughter, Kristen, of Midland; his grandson, Bryan Helms of Midland; and his special friends, Henry Lee Furr and his wife, Yvonne of Concord.
