James Adam Williams, 65, of Mooresville, previously of Midland, passed away Monday, June 24, 2024 at his residence in Mooresville, NC.
Mr. Williams was born November 12, 1958 in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Charles Weddington Williams Jr. and the late Marian Mildred Haigler Williams.
James is survived by his loving wife of nearly 48 years, Jill Dulin Williams, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He was a devoted father to his daughter Amanda Williams Stophel, age 43, and his son, Michael Preston Williams, age 45, and cherished his role as a grandfather to his granddaughters Madison Stophel, Morgan Stophel, Miley Stophel, Amber Williams and grandsons Thomas Stophel and Mason Williams.
Born and raised in Charlotte, NC James was a skilled tree arborist who owned and operated his own tree business for over 40 years, leaving behind a legacy of expertise and dedication to his craft. James’s handywork can be seen all over the Charlotte area. Known for his huge heart and willingness to give others the shirt off his back, James was also a man of faith and loved the Lord. He supported missionaries and his local church and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Outside of work, James had a passion for the game of pool, achieving a commendable rank of 6 by the APA. He had a deep love for music and was known for always being a “member of the band” James loved siting around the fire, barbecuing and entertaining for his family and friends telling stories of his childhood and picking his guitar. His favorite music was Gospel and one of his favorite groups was the Inspirations.
James's life was enriched by his hobbies of camping and traveling with his family, where he found joy in exploring the great outdoors.
Known for his genuine warmth and cowboy-like appearance reminiscent of the Marlboro man, James touched many lives with his kindness and generosity. He adored spending time at the beach fishing, playing golf and antiquing in the North Carolina mountains. His favorite pastimes included enjoying Kool Kings, Crown Royale, black jack reflecting his appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
James will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of hard work, passion, and love for his family will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to be part of his life's journey.
Rest in peace, James Adam Williams. Your spirit will forever live on in our hearts.
A celebration of life service will be held later date with an announcement online.
