James Baker

James "Jim" Robert Baker, 81 years of age, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully Friday, January 12, 2018 at Hunter Woods Nursing & Rehab in Charlotte.
Jim was born January 15, 1936 in Dayton, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his mother Ruth L. Jones; brother Rodney Jones; sister Liz Puffenbarger; and sons Christopher and Phillip Ankney.
Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Janis E. Baker of Charlotte, NC; daughters, Michelle Paxton and Teri Baker Schaffer, of California; sons Michael Shull of California, and James "Jay" P. Baker of Oregon; sisters Carolyn Price and Betty Jones of Virginia; brother Charles "Chuck" Jones of Virginia; as well as nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Jim was a proud Marine and avid Harley rider. He had a lifetime career in aviation mechanics and retired from US Airways. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting. Jim was loved by many and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm, Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord, 460 Branchview Dr. NE Concord, NC 28026. A memorial service for Jim will follow at 3:00pm in the funeral home chapel with military honors.
