James Allen Buchanan, 65, of Harrisburg, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
Allen was born November 18, 1958 in Tennessee to Parselma Gunter Howell.

He was also preceded in death by brother, Michael Howell.

A memorial service will be on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg officiated by Pastor Tamara Wensil.

Allen was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He graduated from Garinger High School in 1976 and then went to work for DeLuca Valve for nearly 15 years.  Afterwards, he worked for the family insurance company for nearly another 15 years.  Allen was a tinkerer, and found great joy in fixing anything.  He also enjoyed playing video games with his grandchildren.  Allen was very determined and he was a problem solver that seldom came across a task he could not accomplish. Allen's most cherished memories however, were the times he spent with his family.
Survivors include wife, Kay Buchanan, mother, Parselma Gunter Howell and husband, Ben Howell; son Michael (Kim) Buchanan Arceneaux, daughter, Crystal Buchanan, son Matthew Buchanan; grandchildren, Brandon Arceneaux and Braelyn Arceneaux, and Skylar Albright.

Donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association and your local animal shelter.
