James Whitley

James Buford Whitley, 91, of Concord, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

James Whitley was born April 24, 1931 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina to the late Albert Buford Whitley and the late Hallene Whitley.  He was also preceded in death by brothers, Marvin and Harold Whitley .

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 12:45 pm, Friday, July 22, 2022 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Friday at 1:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord chapel, officiated by Reverend Josh Kurtz. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park at Hwy. 29N at I85, Exit 58, Concord.

Survivors include wife, Bessie Long Whitley of Concord, NC; daughter, Pamela Whitley Frye (Kenny) of Concord, NC; son James Steven Whitley; son, Curtis Buford Whitley (Pam); sister, Betty Furr (Ken); sister, Pauline Drye (Arthur); brother, Archie Whitley; brother, Farrell Whitley (Amy);  grandchildren, Eric Frye, Tara Kurtz (Josh), J.C. Whitley (Cortney), Shane Whitley (Daniel), Matthew Whitley (Parris), Chris Whitley, Kayla Whitley; great grandchildren, Wesley Kurtz, Micah Kurtz, Whitley Hayes, Kolton Hayes, Annistyn Whitley, Hunter Whitley and Addilyn Whitley.
