James Hartsell

James "Cecil" Hartsell, 73, of Locust, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Carolinas Healthcare Hospice in Monroe.

Cecil was born March 16, 1944 in Stanly County to the late Theodore and Sudie Hartsell.  He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Jason, Glenn, Ben and J.W. Hartsell.

Cecil was wonderful husband and father, and also a super Paw Paw.  He attended Freedom Baptist Church, Locust.

Survivors include beloved wife of 45 years, Louise Huneycutt Hartsell; son, Kevin Dale Hartsell; son, Bradley James (Karen) Hartsell; three sisters, Joyce Baucom, Mary Jewel Hayes, and Shirley (Carl) Linker; brother, J.D. (Peggy) Hartsell; grandsons, Walker Hartsell and Ryan (Jennie) Dutton; granddaughter, Destiny Hartsell; three great-grandchildren, Hilary, Edward, and Jacob; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be 12:00 pm Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Freedom Baptist Church, Locust, officiated by Rev. Wally Gilmer.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 am.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
