James Durant "Jimmy" Crisco, of 1481 White Oak Ave, Albemarle passed away January 9, 2010. Born in Stanly County on September 5, 1934 he was the son of the late Harold Thomas and Osia Caudle Crisco. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Berlin Crisis. He worked for many years at Crisco's Shell Service and retired from Collins & Aikman in Albemarle in 2004. He was a member of West Albemarle Baptist Church. His funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Adam Hatley and the Rev. Ronald Thompson will officate. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the hour of service. Interment will be at Poplin's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. He enjoyed NASCAR, U.S. history, bird-watching and spending time with his family. Jimmy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 48 years, Janet Lunsford Crisco of the home; son, Mark Durant Crisco of Chicago, Il; daughter Cynthia Crisco Horton and husband Larkin of Grand Rapids, MI: brother Harold Everette Crisco and wife Mary Jo of Albemarle; sister, Gaye Crisco Whitesides and husband Gene of Statesville; grandsons, Larkin Tyler Horton and James Durant Horton of Grand Rapids, MI; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in the community.
