James Edward Day, 82 years of age, of Norwood, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 at Forrest Oakes Healthcare Center in Albemarle. Noted as the longest living survivor of Parkinson's Disease, he battled the disease for over 47 years.
James was born January 17, 1934 in Indiana to the late Charles H. Day and the late Marsha Jewell Shiver Day Jones.
He was also preceded in death by his spouse, Shirley May Day, one week prior to his own death.
Survivors include daughters, Roxann Phillipy of Richfield, Shelly (Jeff) Masters of Norwood, and Tonya Ewing of Mexico, IN; sons, James E. (Patricia) Day, Jr. of Corpus Christi, TX, and Leonard Day of La Grange, KY; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A US Navy veteran of the Korean War, James was a conductor for the N&W Railroad for over 25 years.
