James Doby

Mr. James Shannon Doby, 68, of 2922 Noritake Trail, Albemarle, went home to be with The Lord on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at CMC Northeast. Born on November 23, 1941 in Stanly County, NC, he was a son of the late Ray Edward Doby Sr. and Lucille Veronica Crawley Doby. He is survived by daughters: Amy Surratt and husband Ray and Debra Couick; brother, Eddie Doby; special friends Doug and Teena Johnson, all of Albemarle; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Shannon enjoyed life, also friends, his family, especially his grandchildren. He was very proud of his granddaughter, Ashley, who is serving with the US Air Force in Turkey. He was a very talented painter and artist. Not only did he paint signs as a vocation but enjoyed doing landscapes and related art work for pleasure. Hartsell Funeral Home Albemarle is serving the Doby family. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 1 from 5 to 7 at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle. Chapel service will follow at 7 pm. Rev. Tab Whitley will officiate. The family will meet at the home of Amy and Ray Surratt, 2922 Noritake Trail, Albemarle.
