James Daniel Furr, born November 2, 1942, and raised in Cabarrus County, went home to be with the Lord at CHS Main on Tuesday, April 11, 2017. He was a resident of Midland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Luther Furr and Sadie Marie Yow Furr; and his brother, Charlie Buck Furr.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Ann Furr; sister, Camilla Hartsell of Stanfield; daughter, Wendy Denise Furr; nephews, James Tyree and Scotty Tyree; and cousin, Danny Wayne Furr of Mint Hill.
Known to everyone as J. D., he served as a proud, devoted member of Midland Volunteer Fire Department since 1972, 45 years, was in Cabarrus County Rescue 10 years, and served in the Heavy Duty Rescue Competition Team. He dedicated his life serving duties, saving lives as an Emergency Medical Technician and Fireman. He worked for Charlotte Motor Speedway 12 years, Fenestra Corporation 20 years, ATV Allvac from 1996 - 2005 where he retired.
J. D. loved farming, animals, he enjoyed gardening, flowers, walking and fishing. He was a devoted #1 lifelong North Carolina Tarheel Basketball fan and fond Nascar Fan and loved his country music. He was a devoted, caring, loving husband and father to Ann and Wendy Furr.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel in Midland. Burial will follow at the Love's Grove United Methodist Cemetery, 4360 Polk Ford Road, Stanfield.
