CONCORD – James Adam (Bud) Green, 80, of 783 Chalice Street, Concord, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2010 at CMC-Northeast, surrounded by his family.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, at Southside Baptist Church. Burial will follow at West Concord Cemetery. The Rev. Joey Morrison will officiate.
The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Green was born March 1, 1929 in Cabarrus County to the late Joseph B. Green and Nancy Hagler Green. He served on the USS Princeton in the later years of World War II. After his time in the service, he attended Evans College before forming his construction company. He was an avid golfer and fisherman and a member of Southside Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Anita Green Love, and sister, Frances Medlin.
Survivors include his wife, Sara Newell Green; two daughters, Patti Green, and Beth Galyan and husband, Jeff; son, Rick Green and wife, Lisa; sister, Shirley Blackwelder of Columbia, SC; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church Building Fund, 561 Union Cemetery Rd., Concord, NC 28027; or to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
