James Lee Hathcock, Sr., 67, of Albemarle, passed away on August 8, 2021 at his home in Albemarle, NC.
He was born on September 25, 1953 in Stanly County to the late Frank Hathcock and Patsy Cranford Hathcock. He was also preceded in death by his nephew, Aaron Hathcock.
James worked with production support at Phillip Morris for 25 years. He loved his family dearly and he absolutely adored his grandchildren. He was the best friend anyone could ask for and was known for being a honest man through and through. "Big Jim" was a advent Nascar racing fan and was a major supporter of Bill Elliot. He had a special love for the Chicago Cubs and enjoyed watching them play in his spare time. James also enjoyed watching John Wayne movies. He will be remembered for having a unique sense of humor, possessing a top tier work ethic, his love for Jesus Christ, and for his unwavering love and dedication to his family and loved ones. James will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
James is survived by his loving spouse of 48 years Jane; son, Jr Hathcock (Jamie); daughter, Jennifer Hathcock Pegram ( Jr Pegram; ); grandson, Nathan James Hathcock; two granddaughters, Lillie Hathcock, Casey Pegram Coley; great-grandson, Case Coley; brothers, Ronnie (Gale) Hathcock, Billy Hathcock and Roger (Joyce) Hathcock; brother in law, Sam Little; nephews, Buck, Buster, Anthony, Kevin and Brent; and special friend, Gary Pinion
Visitation will be held from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM, Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home, 522 North Second Street, Albemarle, NC.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Dusty Laney will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at the Palestine United Methodist Church, Albemarle, NC.
Burial will take place in the Palestine Cemetery.
