Mr. Hendricks was born on October 5th, 1932, in Charlotte, NC. He was the son of the late Sherman Taft Hendricks and Virginia Cherry Hendricks. He was a graduate of Derita High School and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and participated in the Hydrogen Bomb tests at Eniwetok and Bikini Atolls in the Marshall Islands. Upon completing his service with the Air Force, Mr. Hendricks started a 36 year career with Southern Bell/Bellsouth Telephone Company and was a Manager in Network Management and also a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Doris Byrd Hendricks.
Mr. Hendricks also loved his family, especially his Grandson, Brad, who called him (“Gran”), spending much time with him growing up.
Mr. Hendricks is survived by his son, Steve, and wife, Martha; grandson, Brad; brother, Jack Hendricks, and wife, Sandy; and nieces, Kathy and Karen Hendricks.
A graveside service in celebration of Mr. Hendricks' life will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Carolina Memorial Park Kannapolis, 601 Mt. Olivet Rd., Concord, NC.
