Hayden Joyner
James "Hayden" Joyner Sr., 95 years of age, of Midland, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Avante of Concord.
Hayden was born July 5, 1919 in Cabarrus County to the late James Baxter and Mary Barnhardt Joyner. He was also preceded in death by his first wife of 44 years in 1986, Thelma Clay Joyner , a grandson Scott Lemmond , two sisters Mildred Baucom and Edna Shinn and a brother Bill Joyner.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Sunday at 3:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Concord in officiated by Rev Mark Clontz . Burial will follow at the Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
Survivors include wife of twenty nine years , Betty Joyner of Midland, children Doris Williams and husband Richard of Concord, James H. "Sonny" Joyner Jr. and wife Sheila of Murrells Inlet SC, Joyce Lemmond and husband Ron of Concord and Becky DeMars and husband Claude of Waxhaw NC. Grandchildren Heather Clements, Lindsey Griffin, Katherine Joyner, Emily Pool, Rachel Anderson, Rhonda Watson and Chad Lemmond. Six great grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren. One brother Clinton Joyner and wife Jane of Concord.
Hayden was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and a member of Cabarrus Masonic Lodge #720 and the Wright G. Campbell Chapter 181 Order of the Eastern Star. He was known by the neighbors and the community as the "Egg Man" for supplying fresh eggs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel UMC Church or Alzheimer's Association.
