James Thomas Kiker, 73, of 1107 Bostwood Lane, Concord, passed away Friday, January 22, 2010, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, January 24 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 25 in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Tom Gibbs officiating. Burial will follow at West Concord Cemetery. At other times, the family will be meeting at the home.
Mr. Kiker was born July 2, 1936, in Cabarrus County to the late James Kiker and the late Odessa Whitley Kiker. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He worked in industrial construction and was a member of Midland Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Vanessa Jo Kiker; granddaughter, Shana Lynn Kiker; and sister, Willette Ford.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Louise Starnes Kiker, of the home; sons, James Anthony “Tony†Kiker, of Locust, and Timothy Wayne Kiker, of Concord; daughters, Marilyn Louann Kiker Newell, of St. Augustine, FL, and Margaret Elizabeth Kiker Long, of Salisbury; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
