James Lawson Blackwelder, 70, of Harrisburg, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord.
"Jim" was born June 10, 1951, in North Carolina to the late Rev. Ray Wiley Blackwelder and the late Ethel Roberta Blackwelder. He was also preceded in death by his brother Michael “Mick” Blackwelder.
A memorial service will be held at Broadus Church in Concord on Sunday,February 6,2022 at 3pm, officiated by Reverend Rodney Quesenberry.
Jim was a loving husband to his wife Teresa for 34 years. He loved the Lord and his church family with all his heart and was an avid musician who played the drums for his church. Together, with his two brothers, they formed a Gospel Trio known as the Blackwelder Brothers. Jim was known to be a cut-up and a people person who loved life to the fullest. He was a humble man who is now at peace with his Lord whom he served.
Survivors include wife, Teresa Blackwelder of Harrisburg, NC, brother, Harvey (Teri) Blackwelder, sister-in-law, Judith Blackwelder, daughter, Angie (Keith) Barbee, several beloved nieces and nephews and his pets, Mimi and lucy.
