James Layton

James "JD" Donald Layton, 86 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Monday, February 10, 2014 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle. JD was born October 4, 1927 in Stanly County to the late James Franklin Layton and the late Desdie Wright Hopkins Layton. He was also preceded in death in 2013 by his wife, Jennie Smith Layton; son, Donald Lynn Layton; sisters, Della Mae Layton and Esther Crump; brothers, Ernest Layton and Bobby Layton. The family will receive friends from 3:30 PM until 5:00 PM, Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. The funeral service officiated by Rev. Richard Carlisle will at 5:00 PM, Sunday, February 16, 2014 in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel. Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, February 17, 2014 at Fairview Memorial Park, 2001 East Main Street, Albemarle. He is survived by sons, Roger Wayne Layton and wife, Teresa of Albemarle and James "JR" Laton and wife, Linda of Polkton; daughter-in-law, Kathy Layton; brothers, Carroll Layton of Albemarle and Olin Layton of Concord; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
