James Layton

James Eugene "Jimmy" Layton, 67, of 649 Old Charlotte Rd., Concord, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at his home.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Sunday, December 13, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Monday, December 14, in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel in Concord, with the Rev. Jake Shoemaker officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will be meeting at the home of his sister, Norma Linker.
Mr. Layton was born May 26, 1942, in Cabarrus County, to the late James Everette Layton and the late Vera Louise Broome Layton. He was self-employed and worked in construction.
He is survived by his sons, Michael Almond, of Mt. Pleasant, and Jeff Layton and wife, Shelly, of Landis; daughters, Tammy Layton and husband, Danny Jacobs, of Concord, and Charese Layton, of Texas; brother, Vince Layton, of Concord; sister, Norma Linker and husband, Ralph, of Midland; and grandchildren, Kristen and Jacob Layton, and Kirsten and Hunter Jacobs.
