James Lefler

James Thomas Lefler, 88, of Richfield, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at his home.

Jim was born July 28, 1928 in Rowan County to the late James Thomas Lefler, Sr. and the late Georgia Ann Yow Lefler Williams. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruby in 2007; sister, Elgia Jenkins ; and brother, John Lefler.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, Friday, October 14, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Jim Groome. The burial will be at Stanly Gardens of Memory, 2001 East Main St., Albemarle. Military honors will be conducted by the Stanly County DAV, Chapter #12. At other times, the family will be gathering at the home.

He is survived by his daughters, Melody Kirby and husband Brendan of Palm City, FL, Carol Moore and husband Ted of Claremont; son, Michael Lefler and wife Nicola of Raleigh; and grandchildren, Rachel and John Moore, and Jarrett and Jillian Lefler.

J.T. honorably served his country in the United States Army Air Forces. He worked as an electronics technician for GM, Phillip Morris, and Cape Canaveral.
