James Darrell Lemons, 88 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at W. G. Bill Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury.
Mr. Lemons was born June 2, 1926 in North Carolina to the late William Gilmer Lemons and the late Fannie Lee Morris Lemons. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Lemons Stoker and a brother, William Gilmer Lemons, Jr.
A graduate of Mars Hill College, Mr. Lemons served as a S 2/C in the US Navy having served during WWII. He retired in April of 1983 from Alcoa after 33 years, and was a member of the 25 Year Club and a First Aid attendant. Mr. Lemons was also a member of Badin Methodist Church and the Stanly County Country Club.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 pm, on Thursday May, 14, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Friday, May 15th at Badin United Methodist Church, 18 Hickory Street, Badin at 11 am, following a 30 min. state. Rev. Beau Linker will officiate. Burial will follow at the Fairview Memorial Park at 1425 East Main Street, Albemarle. Military honors will be conducted.
Survivors include wife, Geraldine Mabry Lemons of Albemarle; daughter, Lydia Wenning; son-in-law, Michael T. Wenning; grandchildren, Emily Wenning, Malena Wenning and Benjamin James Wenning all of Charlotte.
