James Lingerfelt

James Lee Lingerfelt, 79, of Albemarle, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. James was born December 5, 1937 in Stanly County to the late George Lee Lingerfelt and the late Carrie Rogers Lingerfelt. He is also preceeded in death by his siblings Bernice Morton and David Lingerfelt. James was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, and paw paw. He was veteran of the United States Navy.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sylvia Blake Lingerfelt; son, Randy Lingerfelt, of Ocean Isle Beach; daughters, Cynthia Lingerfelt Firth, of Albemarle; Teresa Lingerfelt (Gary) Hays, of Holden Beach; and Carla Annette Lingerfelt, of Colorado; five grandchildren, Nathan (Amanda) Lingerfelt, Sierra Lingerfelt, Lindsey Lee, Katie Hays (Bob) Miller, and Garrett Hays; four great-grandchildren, Trenton Gaddy, Karmen Stone, Brooklyn Furr, and Tanner Miller; brother, Wayne Lingerfelt; sisters, Evelyn Harris, Joanne Snipes, Jewell Surratt, Marie Williams, Jane Crump, Elaine Richardson, and Kay Poplin.

James loved sharing his faith in the Lord and teaching of His unconditional love. His love of family genealogy was reflected in the stories told to his grandchildren. He enjoyed time with his cats, Bootsie and Molly, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing billiards.

The family will receive friends Saturday, November 25, 2017, from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The service to celebrate the life of James will follow at 1:00 pm in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Todd Galloway officiating. Interment will be at Stanly Gardens of Memory with full military honors. All other times the family will gather at the family home.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Stanly County and The Uwharrie and all other healthcare professionals who provided support along the way.
