James Long
June 25, 1922 — June 4, 2015
James Lafayette Long, 92 years of age, of Kannapolis, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
Mr. Long was born June 25, 1922 in Rowan County to the late Wilburn Smith Long and the late Bessie Earnhardt Long.
He was also preceded in death by 2nd wife, Mary Willis Long, and 3rd wife, Marie Newsome; and one brother, Hayden Long.
The graveside service will be at 11:00am on Saturday June 6, 2015 at Carolina Memorial Park Harrisburg at 12015 University City Blvd., Charlotte. The service will be officiated by Rev. Alan Thompson.
James proudly served his country for the cause of freedom in the United States Army during WWII.
Survivors include son, Jim (Linda) Long of Kannapolis; daughter, Janice (Steve) Morgan; step-daughter, Bitsy Miller of Marshville; and two sisters, Myrtle Bostic of Concord, and Kathleen Ritch of Kannapolis.
The family would also like to extend a special thanks the staff of the Tucker Hospice House, as well as to the staff of Best Of Care Assisted Living.
