James “Clifford†Lowder, 87, of Concord, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at Carolina’s Medical Center-Northeast in Concord. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 10, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Hartsell Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. Military rites will be conducted by Cabarrus County Honor Guard. At other times the family will meet at the home. Clifford was born on May 5, 1924, to the late Daniel Anderson Lowder and the late Rebecca Louise Smith Lowder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Anderson Lowder; and two sisters, Verna Lowder Koss and Leola Lowder Glover. He is survived by his wife, Ramelle Biggers Lowder of the home; a son, Garey Wayne Lowder, and his wife Barbara of Concord; two daughters, Linda Lowder Streble and her husband Rob, of Kannapolis and Julie Lowder Miller and her husband, Clayton of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Amy, Amanda, Elizabeth, Joseph, Margaret, Abigail, Zach and Clay; and five great-grandchildren, Ashley, Heather, Kayla, Katie and Caylee. Mr. Lowder’s greatest joys were his family, home, church and his dog “Scooterâ€. He enjoyed working in his woodworking shop, making furniture, gardening, fishing and spending time with his family. He served his country honorably in the Navy from 1943 – 1946. He was aboard the USS Maryland; and received the American Theater Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal with six bronze service stars, and the Philippine Liberation Medal with two bronze service stars.
