James Murray

James Ray Murray, 79, of Oakboro, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Stanly Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Josh Fraley, will be held at Red Cross Baptist Church, Oakboro on Wednesday, January 9, 2012, at 11:00 am. He will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory. At other times, the family will meet at his home. Mr. Murray was born on April 20, 1933, to the late Joseph Murray and the late Beula Burris Murray. He is also preceded in death by two sisters. James is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Pauline Tucker Murray of the home; two daughters, Denise Tucker and husband Kenneth of Denver, NC and Pam Lowder and Ernie of Oakboro; son, James Dudley Murray and wife Carol of Oakboro; five grandchildren, Kenny Tucker and wife Tiffany of Murells Inlet, SC, Kevin Tucker and wife Lauren of Lake Wylie, Samantha Lowder of Oakboro, Matthew Murray and wife Jennifer of Fort Bragg and Maggie Murray of Oakboro; four great grandchildren, Tyger andTalon Tucker of Lake Wylie and Brantley, and Braelynn Murray of Fort Bragg; and one brother. He was a twice state commander of Disable American, VFW, and Vietnam Veterans Organization. He retired from the military and post office. He loved working out doors and being on his tractor, he also enjoyed spending time with his loving children and grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Red Cross Baptist Church Building Funds 112 West Red Cross Rd, Oakboro NC 28129 Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Murray family.
