James Robert Talbert, 93 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018 at his home.
Mr. Talbert was born October 3, 1924 to the late Prince Math and Myrtle Talbert Morton. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ruthie Mae Eury Talbert and second wife, Ruby Gardner Talbert; half sisters, Luella Walters, Ruth Currie and Kathryn Harper; half brother, Willie Morton; son-in-law, Sidney Yost. Robert enjoyed donating to the local food bank, gardening, and most importantly, through his example passed down a love for the Lord that has permeated not just through his family, but the community as well. He will forever be remembered for his dedication to hard work and his love for helping others.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel in Albemarle, officiated by Rev. Gary Hunsucker. Burial will follow at the Canton Baptist Church Cemetery, located at 24615 Endy Road, Albemarle.
Survivors include: sons, David Talbert and wife Sonia, Lee Talbert and wife Dianne; daughter, Margaret Yost; sister, Lucille Kapps, half-sisters, Connie Whitt, Mary Holland; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Stanly Christian Ministries, 100 S. Love Chapel Road, Stanfield, NC. 28163.
