James Harold Rothwell was born November 23, 1945, and passed away on February 3, 2025. Born in Long Beach, California, Jim moved with his family to North Carolina in 1994. He is predeceased by his father, Burroughs Rothwell; and mother, Dorothy Walden Rothwell. He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth (Rothwell) McDevitt (spouse Dylan McDevitt, daughters Iris and Nora); son Steven Rothwell; and daughter Kathleen (Rothwell) Marshall (spouse Zachary Marshall).
Jim graduated from Sunny Hills High School in Fullerton, California where he was a part of the varsity baseball and cross country running teams. He went on to earn a bachelor degree in engineering from California Polytechnic Institute, Pomona. Jim was a master of hobbies with a lifetime love of cycling, aeronautics, photography, trains, vintage automobiles, competition shooting, and fine dining. Jim loved his family and friends to the end and always wanted to share his favorite new restaurant, museum, or classic movie review. As he always said, there are some who eat to live, but he was a man who lived to eat. He would plan trips around the best restaurants in the area.
