James Eugene "Jim" Saffell 64 of Concord passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. He was born on December 5, 1944 in Licking County, Ohio. The visitation will be on Thursday, August 20, 2009 from 6PM till 8PM at Hartsell Funeral Home-Concord. The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2009 at 2PM at Westford United Methodist Church, with a 30-minute state. The Rev. Jeff Rushing will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Harrisburg. The family meeting place will be at the home. Jim was a customer service representative for IBM and Eastman Kodak, having 30 years of service. He was also a Vietnam War veteran, serving with the U.S. Navy. Jim was a member of The Good Guys Car Club. His hobbies included restoring and collecting muscle cars, and he also worked at Morrison Motor Company after he retired. He loved his granddaughters dearly and enjoyed playing basketball with them. They were the apple of his eye. Jim was a friend to all, and he enjoyed helping others in need. He was a member of Westford United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Seiter) Saffell, of the home; sons, Brent Saffell and wife, Tiffani, of Concord, and Scott Saffell, of Arizona; mother, Betty H. Saffell, of Marion, Ohio; sisters, Natalie Williams, of Marion, Ohio, and Melodye "Susie" Gamble, of Powell, Ohio; and grandchildren, Faith Katherine and Camden Elise Saffell. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Rodney Saffell.
