James Stone

On February 5, 2023, Jesus reached down and carried his child, James Irving Stone to his Heavenly
Home. James lived in Concord and was currently at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. James was born
September 29, 1948, in Lumberton, North Carolina to the late George Cleveland Stone and the late Ruth
Duke Stone.

James was a wonderful husband of 55 years to Shirley Barbee Stone. He loved dirt tracking racing, as a
spectator and as a driver. His hobbies included target shooting, fishing, and making up his own praise
songs. He loved his girls, grandchildren, and great grandchildren dearly. Most of all, James loved talking
about his first love, Jesus. He never met a stranger and was always happy to share his testimony.

James was preceded in death by brothers, Billy Stone, Milton Stone, William Stone, Tommy Stone, R.C
Stone, sister, Frances Barnes, granddaughter, Erica Parsons, grandsons, Kerrey Brindle and Kyle Brindle,
and son in law, Randall Ashley.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Barbee Stone, daughter, Tammy Bost and husband Landon, daughter,
Robin Ashley, all of Concord, daughter, Casey Parsons of Florida, sister, Maggie Sehorn of Concord, 13
grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 1:45 pm, Friday, February 10, 2023, at Hartsell Funeral Home
of Concord. Service immediately following in the chapel officiated by Dr. Bill Coleman.

James was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed. Looking forward to the day that we will
see our beloved husband, Dad, PawPaw, and Poppy again. We love you, your wife, daughters, grands,
and greats.
