James Strider

James Donald Strider, 63, of Monroe, NC, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011 at his home. Mr. Strider was born March 14, 1948, in Rowan County. He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Fred Strider; mother, Sarah McGinnis Strider; and brother, Lewis Mack Strider. He served his country in the U. S. Army. He was a wonderful Christian husband, father, and grandfather. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, July 16, at Kinza Memorial Baptist Church at Stanfield, officiated by Rev. Dr. Darrell Nance. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service. At other times, the family will meet at his home. Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Dorton Strider, of the home; son, J. Lee Rowell, Jr., of Monroe; daughters, Erica Simone Helms and husband, Stanley, and Ingrid Mae Rowell, both of Monroe; grandchildren, Jason Lee Helms and Derrick Presston Helms; and nieces, Donna S. Oliver and Marsha S. Love. Memorials may be made to Kinza Memorial Baptist Church, P. O.
