James Swaringen

James William Swaringen, 85, of Albemarle, passed away Friday, May 27, 2022 at Atrium Health Stanly in Albemarle.

Mr. Swaringen was born March 19, 1937 in Aquadale, NC to the late James Harvey Swaringen and the late Annie Lambert Swaringen.
He was also preceded in death by sister, Helen Swaringen Whitley; brother, Steven Swaringen.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The graveside service will be on Tuesday at 12:30 pm at Stanly Gardens of Memory in Albemarle officiated by Rev. Kent Little at 2001 East Main St., Albemarle.

Survivors include Wife of 64 years, Shirley Kluttz Swaringen; son, James Michael Swaringen and wife Sherry; 4 grandchildren, Makayla Pitman and husband Jeff Pitman, Megan Swaringen Culp and husband, Doug Culp Jr, Breanna Swaringen, and Andrew Swaringen; 5 great-grandchildren, Raya, Riley, Jensen, Alonzo, and Amelia; brothers, John Swaringen and Lee Swaringen; and sister, Janie Whitley.

William retired from Wiscasset Mills after 40 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, NASCAR racing and spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
