James Talbert

James Douglas “Doug” Talbert, age 79 of 33380 Old Salisbury Road, Albemarle, passed away on March 21, 2012 at CMC-NorthEast. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 23, 2012 from 6 pm until 8 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. At other times the family will meet at his home. The funeral service will be on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 11 am at Kendall’s Baptist Church, where he was a member. Rev. Keith Walters and Rev. Christian Herring will officiate. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born March 22, 1932 in Stanly County, NC, he was a son of the late James William Talbert and the late Bertha Mae Terry Talbert. He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Carol Sue Talbert and Wanda Collins; and sisters, Tharon Barringer and Betty Harwood. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Esther Jane Almond Talbert of the home; son, Gary and wife Lisa of Albemarle; daughter, Brenda Mauney and husband John of Salisbury; brother Keith Talbert and wife Gaye of Albemarle; sister, Marjorie Hudson of Statesville; grandchildren, Tracy Collins, Melody Tucker, Brandon Mauney and Amanda Pittman; and 5 great grandchildren. He was retired from project sales for Lowe’s Home Improvement. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220.
