James Tarlton

James Hermon Tarlton, 78, went Home to be with his heavenly father Monday, May 6, 2013 at Monroe Manor Assisted Living. He was born in Union County on July 17, 1934, son of the late Winfred and Esther Greene Tarlton. He was the eleventh of fourteen children. He was preceded in death by his siblings; Foster, Frank, Jessie, Royd, Kate, Vestal, Cora, Floyd and Ruby. He was a loyal member of Antioch Baptist Church. Hermon was an accomplished brick mason in his younger years and became a master carpenter and builder. Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Joe Query and Rev. George Gouge, will be Friday, May 10, 2013 at 4:00 PM in Antioch Baptist Church, 6223 Love Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28110. The family will visit with friends and relatives from 2:30 – 3:45 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times the family will be meeting at the home. Hermon is survived by his wife of 15 years, Jean Haigler Williams Tarlton; sons, Mark and wife Pat, Randy and Rachel, and Morris (Jive) Tarlton; daughter, Paulette Tarlton and Jeff Collins; step-daughters, Anita and husband Steve Spurlock, Sonya and husband Tommy Gaddy, Michelle and husband Shawn Gonzales; grandchildren, Natalie, Brad, Brice, Morisa, Megan, Lucas, Anna, Caleb and Mary; three great-grandchildren; twin brother, Howard and wife Dottie; sisters, Bobbie and husband John Rushing and Shirley Caskey. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 1420 East Seventh Street, Charlotte, NC 28204. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Tarlton family.
