James Lee Taylor, Jr., age 76, of Concord passed away on June 5, 2020.
Jim was born September 7, 1943 in Raleigh, NC to James Lee Taylor, Sr. and Marjorie Glynn Hill Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Linda Barker and Jean Burke.
Jim made his final journey to join his Lord and Savior in heaven, greeted by the loved ones who went before him. We are sad but rejoice his suffering is over and we know we will be reunited again one day.
Jim was a kind and loving man with a gentle spirit. He was a patient teacher and mentor to everyone in both his personal and professional life. He has been referred to as one of the best people you'll ever know. Those who know and love him agree wholeheartedly. A quiet and laid back man with a contagious chuckle and big smile, he loved to pull an innocent prank on others. His laughter and that twinkle in his eye will be forever missed. We all have heartwarming and funny stories...he was a wonderful man.
He was much loved by family and friends and well thought of by his peers. He was the "go-to guy" as he could build or fix anything and was always willing to help others with their projects or explain how to do it...even by phone. The son of a mechanic, he owned many vehicles through the years. He liked old cars and tractors, motorcycles, pedal cars...he and Paula enjoyed going to car shows and just being together rambling around. If she wanted to go somewhere most men wouldn't want to go, he would just say "I'm with you darling" and off they'd go.
His absence will be forever felt in the lives of his wife, Paula, his immediate family and dear friends who were like family. Much love and thanks to everyone who provided love, support and prayers during his decline. Without them the journey would have been much more difficult.
Survivors include beloved wife of 27 years, Paula; daughter Dreama Whitmire (Jack) of Scott Depot WV; sons Darrell Taylor (Jennifer) Columbus OH and David Taylor (Kim) Cambridge OH; stepson Brandon Allen (Beth) Concord; brother Terry Taylor (Carol) of Cleveland OH; grandchildren Shane, Anthony, Erica, Taylor, Cheyenne, Renea and Madison; great grandchildren Autumn, Carson and Hayden and several nephews and nieces.
We are eternally grateful to our guardian angels for the love, care and compassion shown to Jim and to Paula especially during this pandemic when Paula could not make her twice daily visits to feed him and help with his care.
At this difficult time and to keep everyone safe, there will be no formal service. Jim will be laid to rest during a private committal service at Sunset Memory Gardens in Mint Hill. Rev. John Harrill of Hickory Grove Baptist Church will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his memory to American Cancer Society at Cancer.org; Alzheimer's Association at Alz.org or to the charity of your choice.
Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg is serving the Taylor family.
