James Thomas

James Lawrence Thomas, 81, of New Salem, passed away peacefully in his sleep with his beloved dog, Pepper, by his side on October 18, 2017 at his home.

Mr. Thomas was born in Union County on September 19, 1936, to the late Vernon Cornelius Thomas and the late Ollie Maude Williams Thomas of New Salem. He is also preceded in death by one son, Hal Thomas; six sisters, Merle Thomas, Minnie Mullis, Veta Deal, Mavis Rowell, Nola Morgan and Jessie McGhee; three brothers, Clinton Thomas, Robert Thomas and Darrell Thomas.

Survivors include his beloved dog, Pepper, and many loving nieces and nephews left to cherish his memory forever.

Mr. Thomas was the owner and operator of The Game Room in Sunset Harbor NC and was a retired security officer for The Nuclear Plant in Southport, NC.

He enjoyed and LOVED going to the Charlotte auto fair with his special nephew, James C. Thomas.
