James Tomberlin

Mr. James Nathan Tomberlin 86 of 4921 Love Mill Road Monroe passed away on March 15, 2010 at Lake Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on September 15, 1923 in Union County to the late James Pernay Tomberlin and the late Mary Jane Pressley Tomberlin. Also preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Mayona Isable Helms Tomberlin, a brother Gaston Tomberlin who died on November 5, 2009. Mr. Tomberlin was a veteran of US Army having served in WW II. He was a retired machinist with Yale and Towne with 30 years of service, and was a member of Longs Grove Advent Christian Church. Nathan loved the Lord, his family, friends and neighbors. He will leave a legacy of helping anyone that was in need. The family meeting place will be at the home. A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Midland on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 from 6 until 8 PM. A celebration of his life will be held at Shiloh Advent Christian Church on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 11 AM following a 30 Min. state, with the Rev. Glennon Balsar, the Rev. Don Thomas, and the Rev. Billy Mobley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Survived by: daughters, Darlene Helms and husband Charles of Monroe; Eloise Greene and husband Wayne of Sylva; grandchildren, Daron Helms and wife Tina, Mark Helms, Matt Helms and wife Paulette all of Monroe, Scott Helms and wife Michelle of Marshville,, Richard Greene of Rural Hall, Crystal Leadbetter and husband Mike of Bryson City, Hope Hall and husband Jerry of Old Fort; great-grandchildren, Brice, Austin, Adyson, Morgan, Ryan, Cameron, Heather, Junior and wife Afton, Megan, and Rebecca. A special thank you to Mark for the love, care and dedication he gave to his Grandpa. Also thanks to Hillcrest Baptist Church Rest Home and Lake Park Nursing And Rehabilitaion Center for the excellent care given to their dad during his illness.
