Locust

James Leroy Walker, 59, of Locust, NC peacefully passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital in Concord, NC, after undergoing heart surgery two weeks prior. He left his earthly body but not before his wishes were granted of organ donation…his final selfless act of true loving kindness.

Jimmy (Jim/Little Jimmy/James) was adopted by James Lee Walker and his wife, Frances McAnulty of Charlotte, NC in 1966. Shortly afterwards, they moved out of the city to Midland, NC. After adopting their daughter, Candee Michelle, they decided their family was complete. Jimmy was raised in Bethel United Methodist Church.

He was a Boy Scout and loved being outdoors. He attended Central Cabarrus High School and then graduated from UNCC and later in life went on to earn a Master’s degree from Wake Forrest.

Even though Jim may have distanced himself from others due to his deep struggle with mental illness, Jim leaves behind many that love him.

Over the past year and 1/2 he had been employed as a Peer Support Specialist with Professional Healthcare Solutions, Inc. This is a quote from his supervisor:

“He was a source of hope and encouragement for his clients. He used his own experiences to connect with others, offering support, guidance, and a listening ear. Whether they were struggling or just needed a little encouragement, Mr. James was always there with kindness and understanding. His impact was felt by everyone he worked with, and his legacy of care and compassion will live on in the lives they touched.”

Surely Jim was received into the arms of Jesus and his loving parents in Heaven.

Luke 19:17 …And he said to him, “Well done, good servant!”

In lieu of a formal service we ask that you would just pray for or reach out to someone that needs a hand up or just a little hope. That’s what Jim would want! God Bless You.
