James Whitley

James Carol Whitley, 78, of Albemarle, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at CMC- NorthEast. 

The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle on Thursday, January 31, 2013, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Rick Clough, Rev. Mike Madaris, Rev. Pete Brouillette and Rev. Stoney Benfield, will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 4:00pm. Mr. Whitley will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. At other times, the family will meet at his home. 

Mr. Whitley was born on July 25, 1934 in Albemarle, to the late James Daniel Whitley and the late Sara Eleanor Huneycutt Whitley. James is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Norene "Beanie" Whitley of the home; one son, Steve Whitley of New London; two grandchildren, Anna Whitley of Fayetteville, and Brandon and fiancia Carmen of Albemarle; five siblings, Buford Whitley of Oakboro, Jewel Purser of Albemarle, Madge Whitley of Albemarle, Betty Almond of Ridgecrest and Patsy Whitley of Albemarle. 

Mr. Whitley was owner and operator of James Whitley's Upholstery Shop for 58 years.
