James Herbert Huneycutt, 92, of Stanfield, passed away Monday, December 21, 2020, on what would have been his 73rd wedding anniversary.
Herbert was born November 16, 1928 in Stanly County to the late James Homer Huneycutt and the late Etta Mae Osborne Huneycutt. Herbert was also preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life, Rachel Marie Almond Huneycutt in 2007; and sisters, Helen Hopkins, Alene Treece, and Hilda Smith.
Herbert was loved by everyone. He will be remembered as a humble, soft-spoken, and kind man. Most of all, he dearly loved his family and the highlight of his week was cooking Sunday lunch. Herbert enjoyed woodworking and working outdoors, especially in his garden and lawn. Herbert was a loving dad and "PawPaw Herbie" to many.
Survivors include sons, Ron (Ann) Huneycutt and Jim (Donna) Huneycutt; grandchildren, Jana (Eric) McPhaul; Jared (Jessica) Huneycutt, Adam (Angie) Conley, Audrey Conley, Emily Morgan and Ethan Morgan; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Madison Kiser, Austin, Olivia, Brayden Conley, Telan and Tate Huneycutt; great- great-granddaughter, Ivy Fletcher; and several nieces and nephews.
Herbert was laid to rest during a private graveside service at First Baptist Church of Stanfield Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Bruce League.
