Concord

Jane Hardman Langtry, 91, of Concord, passed away Monday, July 6, 2020 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

Jane was born March 7, 1929 in Hamburg, Iowa to Dave and Dorothy Hardman nee Hall. She grew up enjoying a midwestern childhood in Sidney, Iowa. She attended Sidney High School where she played basketball and was the drum majorette of the high school band. She was valedictorian of her class and upon graduation moved to Des Moines, Iowa to pursue her career in business. In her spare time, Jane played semi-pro women's basketball for LOOK Magazine. Looking to grow her career she moved to Chicago and worked for the Federal Bureau of  Investigation as a member of support staff. With the FBI she had the opportunity to work on many interesting cases dealing with domestic security and the Cold War. She received recognition from J Edgar Hoover for her work on various cases. During her time at the Bureau she met John Langtry who was a Special Agent and the two married in July 7, 1955. The newlyweds moved to NYC and for many years, Jane was a homemaker and a loving mother who enjoyed watching her children grow. Once the children were on their own, she went back into the workforce at both ITT and Mercer Consulting. Upon retirement she moved to North Carolina. Jane enjoyed retirement and loved spending time with her family, especially her 5 grandsons. She loved animals, was an avid reader of mysteries and enjoyed watching her Tarheels play basketball especially when they beat Duke.
