Janet Plowman

Janet “Janette” Carmeleta Mauldin Plowman, age 80 of Albemarle, passed away on May 1, 2012 at her home. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle on Wednesday, May 2 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at Grace Baptist Church on Thursday, May 3, at 2:00 PM, with a 30 minute state, officiated by Rev. Delane Burris and Rev. Keith Austin. Burial will follow in Stanly Gardens of Memory. At other times, the family will meet at her home, 1123 E. Cannon Ave., Albemarle. Mrs. Plowman was born in Stanly County on January 14, 1932, to the late Effie Harris Mauldin. She is also preceded in death by her first husband, Jay Dee Barbee. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, James Howard Plowman, of the home; a daughter, Debbie Barbee Whitley and her husband Arthur of Albemarle, NC; two grandchildren, Jennifer Howell and Jeremy Whitley; great-grandchildren, Dale, Whitley and Kaylee Reed; stepchildren, Kathy Plowman Barbee and her husband Jack of Albemarle, Kevin Plowman and his wife Kenitha of Mt. Pleasant, NC; and Larry Plowman and his wife Donna of Sneads Ferry, NC; two special cousins, Joy Frankoff of Cary, NC and Michael Ussery of Atlanta, GA; five step grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.
