Janie Caddell

Janie “Mitzi” Haire Caddell, 74, of Oakboro, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Tucker Hospice House in Concord. The family will receive friends at Big Lick Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, Oakboro, on Monday, September 17, 2012 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 at Big Lick Baptist Church. Rev. Jeff Springer and Rev. Adam Hatley will officiate and the burial will follow at Oakboro Cemetery. At other times the family will meet at her home. Born May 10, 1938 in Bladen County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Slater and Opal Thaggard Haire. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cliff Caddell, and a son, Ben Caddell, who she is reunited with in Heaven after 36 years. Brothers, Slater and Hal Haire also preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Dan Caddell and wife Fern; 3 grandchildren, Jordan, Cara and Jared all of Oakboro; brother, Edgar Haire and wife Maxie of Charlotte; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mitzi was active in her community. She was a school teacher for over 30 years with the majority of those years spent teaching 3rd grade at Oakboro. She was a member of Big Lick Baptist Church and was a former town commissioner. She enjoyed going out with her friends and was a former Hospice volunteer. Memorials may be made to Hospice. The family would like to thank all of her friends and church family for all of their love and support during her illness. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Caddell family.
