J.D. Yow

J.D. Yow, 92 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away following a brief illness Friday, December 29, 2017 at Carolinas HealthCare System Stanly in Albemarle.

Mr. Yow was born December 21, 1925 in Stanly County to the late Jack Daniel Yow and the late Lillie Mae Yow. He was also preceded in death by his step mother, Maude Little Yow; brother, Houston Yow; and special uncle, Marvin Yow.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM - 1:45 PM, Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in the Ladies Parlor at Main Street United Methodist Church, 1100 W. Main Street, Albemarle. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the church sanctuary officiated by Rev. Fred Carpenter. Burial will follow at the Stanly Gardens of Memory at 2001 East Main St., Albemarle.

J.D. was an US Army veteran, retired from the NC Department of Transportation, and was active in the American Legion and the Civitan Club. His hobbies included reading, woodworking, bird watching and putting together puzzles.

Survivors include wife of 70 years, Gladys Yow of the home; daughter, Sandra Edwin of Albemarle; son, Barry L. Yow of N. Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Yvonne Edwin and Matt Edwin and wife Jessica; and great grandchild, Kasey Edwin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church c/o of the Family Life Center, 1100 W. Main Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
