Jean Hathcock

Jean Marie Edwards Hathcock, 68, of Oakboro, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Novant Health - Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

Mrs. Hathcock was born October 30, 1947 to the late Guilford P. Edwards and the late Elizabeth P. Edwards. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Beverly Edwards Hathcock.

Jean was a graduate of Wake Forest University, and worked for the State Vocational Rehab Facility for 30 years. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Albemarle. Jean loved the Lord, reading from her bible and living by what she read. She always lifted people up with her sweet smile and enjoyment of life. Always spending time with family and friends, Jean was full of grace and compassion and never had a harsh word to say about anyone. She was also an avid reader and loved thrift store shopping.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm. A Celebration of life will follow at 3:00 pm in the Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, officiated by Pastor Bob Gruver. Burial will follow at the Rocky Mount Baptist Church, 4167 Rocky Mount Church Road, Polkton. At other times, the family will be meeting at the home, 4455 Hwy 205 South, Oakboro.

She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Knowles Chalmers Hathcock of the home; sister-in-law, Blevyn Wheeler; two nieces, Suzanne Moose and Margaret Davis; and a great-niece, Laura Morris, all of Oakboro.
