Jean Hatley

Jean Rosella Braswell Hatley, 91, of Concord, passed away January 23, 2013 at Universal Healthcare in Concord. Her faith became sight on Wednesday as she joined her husband who had been waiting for her. Mrs. Hatley was born August 5, 1921 in Union County to the late Hariam Pratt Braswell and Bessie Jane Vanderburg Braswell. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, James David Hatley, and her sisters, Beulah Godfrey and Grace Ford. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Concord. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 2 p.m. Saturday, January 26, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Dr. Jim Wadford and Rev. Karen Kaser-Odor. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte. At other times, the family will meet at the home of her daughter, Brenda, at 222 Lagoda Drive in Locust. Survivors include her son, Douglas Hatley and his wife, Brenda, of Concord and her daughter, Brenda Boyles and her husband, Donald, of Locust; and two step-grandchildren, Todd and his wife, Danielle Drye, and Chad Drye of Concord; two nieces, one great-niece, two great-great-nieces. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Universal Healthcare and the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County for their loving and compassionate care.
