Jeanette Lanahan

Jeannette Akers Simmons Lanahan, age 78 of 1000 N. 11th Street, Albemarle, NC passed away on July 13, 2011 at home in Albemarle. Born in Pontotoc County, Mississippi on May 15, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Olin Holmes and Maude Hester Plunk Akers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Edgar Simmons. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday , July 15, 2011. The funeral service will be at 4 pm on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Central United Methodist Church. The Rev. James Yow will officiate. Mrs. Lanahan was survived by her husband, Edward Lanahan; two daughters, Kim Hofmann and husband, Kevin of Oakton, VA, and Sandi S. Kohn and husband Bryan of Stafford, VA; one sister, Voline Conlee of Memphis, TN; three stepdaughters, Susan, Melissa, and Amy; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Jeannette was a self employed Real Estate Broker with Century 21 Real Estate, she was a member of the Red Hat Society and was a collegiate level basketball player.
