Jeannette Souther

Ruby Jeannette Souther, 82 years of age, of Concord, passed away Monday, December 5, 2016 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
Jeannette was born September 29, 1934 in Cabarrus County to the late Lewis Adam Troutman and the late Zula Burris Troutman.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Lee Whitley; second husband Royal Lean Souther; and eight siblings.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Friday at 3:00 pm at Wil-Mar Park Baptist Church in Concord officiated by Rev. David Wilson. Burial will follow at the Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
Survivors include daughter, Janet Penninger of Concord; daughter, June Alexander of Rockwell; son, Jack (Sharon) Whitley, Sr. of Concord; sister, Kay Cook of Concord; brother, John Troutman of Rockwell; sister, "Mickey" Sarah Lowder of Midland; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her faithful and beloved dog, Jack.
Jeannette was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, a member of the Rimer Gang from Rimertown, NC. She worked as a seamstress in the textile industry. Most will remember her from the ball fields of Cabarrus County. She was an avid softball player, baseball coach, and Sunday school teacher. If you ever met Jeannette, you were probably offered a cookie, a canned soft drink, or maybe even offered one of her homemade lap throws. We will miss her dearly, but we have been taught to give more than we receive, love more than we love, and laugh more than we cry.
