Jen was born in Lancaster, PA on 4/18/1969 to John Thomas Kilgore and the late Susan Roe Kilgore. She is survived by her father Tom Kilgore, stepmother Casey Kilgore and sister Christine Nowroozi and family as well as step siblings Robert Fairchild Jr. and Jennifer Fairchild Borecky and family. She is also survived by her husband Sean C. N. Ferguson, DDS and her three sons. Ryan T. R. Ferguson, born 4/17/1999, Colin M. C. Ferguson, born 9/7/2001 and Evan J. P. Ferguson, born 12/1/2004.
Jen attended Virginia Tech from 1987-1991 earning her degree in Biology. After graduation, she moved to Northern Virginia to be near her father and future husband. She worked in the field of microbiology eventually furthering her career by accepting a job at Virginia Commonwealth University in the field of genetics while her husband attended MCV.
The couple eventually settled in Huntersville to raise their three sons. Jen was never one to sit on the sidelines. If one of her boys was playing a sport you knew she was going to be the team “Mom”. She was a regular at the neighborhood bus-stops. Children loved to be around her. She had a way of making every child feel loved and important. Her smile and laugh were contagious. She was a genuine joy to be around.
As her children grew so did her love for them. She taught them the values of love, faith, strength, responsibility and most of all to care for others. Her true legacy lies in the wonderful young men she shaped and left behind to make this world a much better place. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
A special thanks to Father Jerome Chavarria of St. James for his compassion, love, care and generosity of spirit that brought great comfort during this trying time.
