Jerry Lynn Kelly (Uncle Jerry), 71, of Woodstock, GA, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family and friends. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Canton Baptist Church, 24615 Endy Road, Albemarle, NC. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Wade Parker and Rev. Mark Mabry, will follow in the church sanctuary at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the Stanly County DAV. Mr. Kelly was born on July 20 1941, to the late Locke William Kelly, Sr. and the late Bertie Louise Robinson Kelly. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Kelly. Jerry is survived by a loving daughter, Farrah Cox of Rogersville, TN; a brother, Locke Kelly, Jr. and Maggie of Yorktown VA; two sisters, Patricia Eudy of Albemarle, NC, and Peggy Howell of Lithia, FL; and a grandson, Cameron Patrick Kelly; numerous great nieces and nephews and many loving friends and family. He was a very kind and loving man, a loving father and grandfather. He was the best brother you could ever want and the best uncle. He never met a stranger and became Uncle Jerry to all his friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Mr. Kelly was an avid sports fan, and virtually an encyclopedia of knowledge pertaining to sports and our national history. He served in the US Army from 1959-1962. Memorials may be made to Wellstar Community Hospice, 4040 Hospital West Drive, Austell GA 30106. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Kelly family.
